Camping
Sun Dance Ranch has a small cosy campsite so camping lovers can enjoy the ranch feeling as well. It is not the intention that Sun Dance Ranch will start a big campsite. (we don’t have the priorities there and there are already a lot of bigger campsites in the neighbourhood). But we do want to offer the camping lovers also the ranch experience and the ranch feeling but then from the campsite with own camper, caravan or tent with the horses in ‘your backyard’.
The cottages
In front of the saloon there are 3 cottages. We have for each cottage its own theme/decor: “Indian”, “Cowboy” and “Wildlife”.
You’ll enter into the hallway. Straight ahead is the bathroom with shower and toilet. On the left hand side is a double room with view over the meadows and the river. On the right hand side is a double room with views over the yard, horse paddock and the river.
The Indian cottage has a bedroom with a bunk bed with a 120 cm bed in the bottom so that we have the possibility to have 3 persons in one room. So we can also have a family of 5 persons in one cottage.
Would you come alone or with two persons then it may be another couple in the other bedroom. In that case you’ll share the bathroom together.
The left cottage is the Wild life cottage and is a tiny house so the left room has a kitchen/living room and the right room is the bedroom. This cabin is suitable for 2 persons.
We have also a camping cottage. This is also a wooden house but this one has no shower and no toilet. There are 2 single beds in this cottage and a closets.
The Cowboy cabin, Indian cabin and camping cottage are NOT fully equipped cottages with kitchen and living room and there is not the possibility to cook a meal.
Although we have a cooking cottage that all our overnight guests can use. This cottage has a fully equiped kitchen and dining area.
Surroundings
The ranch is located directly by the largest river of Sweden: Klarälven, what means clear river. The ranch has 28 hectares of private ground of which +/-14 hectares are woodland and 14 hectares are meadows. In addition, we also lease 6 hectares from our neighbours so we have about 34 hectares available. The horses have access to about 20 hectares of land.
Sun Dance Ranch is located in the middle of nature but only 5 km from the centre of the pleasant village of Ekshärad. The environment of the ranch is beautiful, especially for nature lovers! There are several marked hiking tracks around the ranch from about an hour. And in the backyard there are several lakes and the beavers are really active. There is also a beautiful lake where you can fish or just enjoy the peache and surroundings.
It is also a nice spot for canoeing or fishing. The lakes are connected to the river Klarälven where the ranch is located. In addition, there are plenty of wild animals around to see at the ranch as: the moose, beaver, deer, foxes, badgers or cranes and maybe a lynx, wolf or bear. Although that is rare of course, they are usually much deeper into the forest and are very shy. We’ll see occasionally traces from lynx and wolves during the day trails. In our backyard you’ll see that the beavers are very active. Someday you don’t see anything and the next they there are a lot of trees ‘fallen’ down. Very special! Behind our own forest there is a great beautiful lake. And there are also plenty of opportunities and tracks for mountain biking.

Brattfallet is a really beautiful and worth a visit with a short (1 hour) or long hike (3-4 hour). Brattfallet is 17 km north from the ranch.
And not to forget: the beautiful sunset that is visible from the ranch, is worth a picture almost every day!
